we happened upon this beautiful Purple Cone Flower (Echinacea purpurea)

I imagined the leaves and flowers bursting out of the soil in a desperate attempt to grasp light after an extended period of darkness

In addition to the January full moon being commonly referred to as the 'Wolf Moon', the Celtic calendar calls it the 'Birch Moon'.
