Handwoven Organic Petate Tule Rush Straw Rug/floor bed/bedroll mat 3.5'x6' western 48" Width x 43" HeightWe offer a handwoven large Petate Bedroll The Petate (from the nahuatl word "petatl") is a type of bedroll used in Central and South America. The petate is woven from the fibers of a tule straw. Most Aztec peoples, and many other pre Columbian mesoamerican cultures, used the petate as a bed at night and as a seat during the day. It was also used for drying seeds, grains, tortillas, and other foodstuffs in the sun, to prevent them touching the ground.
