living on granite rock cliff faces inside the mountainous Tijuca forest of Rio de Janeiro
with light blue fragrant flowers
This hybrid is sometimes found as a natural cross in Guatemala
A yellow-green plant with red bands
growing most commonly in the trees which overhang the myriad waterways
Aechmea orlandiana 'Gold Tone' Size:Offset living on granite rock cliffAt first glance it resembles an orlandiana Ensign but then you start to see differences. The plant has an overall golden wash, and the leaf margins, instead of being white like Ensign, are gold. The plant also seems be a more robust grower, larger and leafier, with fewer of the problems common to 'Ensign', such as blemishes in the variegation. We obtained this plant from a private collection in Brazil and registered it. *VIPP plant is an Offset
